If you're going to visit the Spanish city of Madrid from another part of the country, one of the best entry points that you can use would have to be Madrid – Atocha. This is where one of the main railway stations in the city is located. Within Madrid-Atocha, you will find a number of interesting attractions that from which to start your tour of the city. The rail station building in this area, in itself is a popular tourist site. The old building features a palm garden with a pond full of small turtles inside it.

After you've seen most of the attractions in the Atocha road, take your car rental and drive through other points of Madrid where you'll find tourist sites that are just as interesting. Visit the Palacio Real, for instance, or shop in Calle Fuencarral and Salamanca.
