Everything was very straightforward, I was asked to buy additional insurance by Avis for breakdown etc, so it would have been useful to understand this wasn't included in the quoted price - if it was stated it wasn't obvious. It would be useful for you or the rental companies to provide more information on how pick up and drop offs work at the specific airports. Finding the drop off place a San Francisco was not great, as the address stated and google maps puts them in slightly different places - and the attendant joked that finding the garage wasn't easy.

San Jose Airport serves more than five million passengers every year as it serves as the main air gateway to the city of San Jose, the most populous city in San Francisco Bay Area. It is located four kilometres from the city centre and near the intersections of major freeways. As such, it has become a chief car rental hub in the region.

The airport is composed of two passenger terminals that handle both domestic and international flights. Terminal A is scheduled for expansion and Terminal C will soon be replaced by Terminal B to accommodate the growing number of passengers that go through the airport. Options for car hire at the San Jose Airport are provided through major rental agencies at the car hire centre in Terminal A. Soon, a car rental and car park complex will also be opened at the airport.

The airport features a number of passenger facilities including information desks, travel assistance, currency exchange, ATMs, postal facilities and internet kiosks. For travelling families, the airport offers the use of its baby change facilities and children's entertainment areas. Dining options come in the form of a variety of coffee shops, fast food outlets, restaurants and snack bars located all over the terminals. Wireless internet access is also available in public areas all throughout the building.

Travellers can easily get to the city centre as the airport is connected to downtown San Jose by rail. Bus and shuttle services also leave the terminal building at regular intervals. Alternatively, passengers can arrange for cheap car hire at the San Jose Airport for added convenience.

 What do I need to do when picking up a car?

To pick up your car, you will need your voucher, passport, driver's license and a credit card. It is very important that your driver's license and credit card are in the same name as the main driver. Keep in mind that the local rental company will reserve a certain amount on your credit card as a deposit. This requires the PIN code for your credit card. If your driver's license is foreign (for example, in Chinese), you must bring a translation with you. Only your original passport and driver's license will be accepted - a copy is not sufficient.

 Are there any additional costs?

In general, our rates are all-inclusive. Should there be any additional costs, our booking department will get in touch with you before issuing the invoice. Should you object, you can always cancel your reservation with no obligations attached (at least 48 hours in advance).

Only rental companies with a high level of customer satisfaction are eligible to be included in our Worry-Free selection. This rate includes excess cover and unlimited kilometres. Your vehicle will be provided and must be returned with a full tank of fuel. With a vehicle from our Worry-Free selection, you can travel with peace of mind and no hidden costs.

 How can I change or cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation through "My Account". We recommend contacting us by phone if your changes to your booking or cancellation takes place at short notice (48 hours or less).

 When will I get a confirmation of my booking?

Most reservations will receive confirmation within minutes after payment takes place. We recommend contacting our Booking Department for last minute reservations (pick-up within 48 hours).
