Cheap car hire at Guernsey Airport (GCI) is a good way to get around. Guernsey Airport, or GCI, is the only airport that services the island of Guernsey. It is in the north part of the English Channel. The airport is roughly three miles from the island's central zone, called St Peter Port. The airport was built 1939 for WWII. It became operational commercially after the war in 1946.

A few shops, car rental, ATMs and also an area for taxis are available in the airport and in front of the main entrance. Although the airport is small, GCI has many of the basic services that you would expect in a state of the art international airport.

Construction on the newest terminal building started in 2002 and finished on the 19th of April 2004. This upgrade to the new terminal made it capable of handling about 1.25 million passengers per annum.

Cheap car hire at Guernsey Airport (GCI) is a smart choice as a way to move throughout Guernsey. The island has only two buses and no trains or subway. Taxis can be pricey and difficult to find. There are several noteworthy spots to check out around the island and driving a car on picturesque Guernsey roads can be a fun activity in itself.

These days, the runways are tarmac. This is an improvement from more simple times when they were grass and gravel. Airlines using the airport include VLM, Lufthansa, Aurigny Air Services, Air Southwest, Blue Islands and FlyBe. Many flights go to destinations around the UK, with some flights to western European spots.
