Everything was very straightforward, I was asked to buy additional insurance by Avis for breakdown etc, so it would have been useful to understand this wasn't included in the quoted price - if it was stated it wasn't obvious. It would be useful for you or the rental companies to provide more information on how pick up and drop offs work at the specific airports. Finding the drop off place a San Francisco was not great, as the address stated and google maps puts them in slightly different places - and the attendant joked that finding the garage wasn't easy.

Nova Scotia, Canada is the home of the Halifax/Stanfield International Airport. 3.5 million passengers annually arrive and depart from the airport. It provides impeccable customer service and has been awarded for it for six consecutive years. It provides cargo services, and is one of the few airports where a space shuttle can safely land.

It serves Northwest Air Lines, Thomas Cook, Air Canada, United Airlines, Continental Express Airlines, WestJet, Corsairfly, and American Airlines. It is the only airport in Atlantic Canada that offers pre-clearance before going to the United States. Other services include educational airport tours for students, car rental, conference rooms, and banking.

Taxi and limousine rentals are available for advanced booking, but cheap car hire in Halifax/Stanfield Airport is on hand at the airport premises. Some of the internationally-recognized brands supported are Avis, Hertz, Enterprise, Alamo, and National. The airport also offers paid first-come-first-served parking, so most passengers can opt for the car hire at the Stanfield/Halifax Airport.

Passengers from outside of Canada need to go through customs and immigration, and those bound for domestic destinations need to check-in two hours before the flight. Three hours should be allotted for those who will be boarding international flights. The upper level is used for departures, while the ground floor houses the shops, ticketing offices, immigration and customs, and car rental facilities.

The shops at the lower and departures level include restaurants, cafes, boutiques, duty-free stores, and a massage salon. There are three cash machines at the lower level and two at the upper level, plus a Royal Bank of Canada machine that offers full services.
